7 Verses to Pray for Your Husband
Sometimes I can’t get over the privileges afforded me. And I don’t mean special parking spots at football games. (Although I really do like that perk.) Instead, I mean the opportunity to talk, one on one, with the God of the universe.
The chance, anytime, anyplace, to receive full attention from the King of Kings. The reality of my God bending His ear to my voice and all the time in the world to meet with Him.
I’m humbled. Amazed. Empowered.
When I imagine this picture of God’s eager ear I think of all the things I could say. And as we close in on Father’s Day, I bow my heart and raise my voice for my husband.
When I consider my desperate need for Jesus every day in every way, I realize my husband needs the same. And when I seek God’s face on his behalf I see his struggles, perceive his pressures, and connect to his concerns in a way impossible apart from God.
I cannot run Luke’s race for him, but I can stand along the route with Living Water to refresh him.
A few weeks ago I wrote 7 verses to pray for your children. Today, I offer these 7 prayers for your husband:
“Please bless him and expand his influence. God, let your hand be with him in all he does and keep him from harm!” 1 Chronicles 4:10
“Let your favor rest on him, God, and establish the works of his hands.” Psalm 90:17
“May he submit to you in all his ways and draw near to you, and may you be near to him.” James 4:7-8
“Lord, may you be his rock and his fortress, and may you lead him and guide him for your name’s sake.” Psalm 31:3
“Lord, may he hear your voice clearly and follow you.” John 10:27
“Perfect what concerns him, Lord. May your faithful love endure.” Psalm 138:8
“Where he is weak, God, may he trust your sufficient grace, and may your power be made perfect in his weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9
We exercise one of our greatest weapons for our marriages, our homes, and our children when we boldly approach God’s throne. {Hebrews 4:16} When we earnestly petition our Father for His Word to live and breathe in the souls of our husbands, we plug into power that’s unmatched and unstoppable.
These are the prayers we whisper over and over when no one else hears. And then we watch expectantly knowing apart from God we can do nothing, but with Him all things are possible!
If God leads, jot down these Scriptures and commit to pray them for your husband. And, please, if you have special verses you pray, Leave a Comment! and tell us about them, so we can all add them to our arsenal.
