A Prayer to Equip You for What’s Ahead

With every new year comes a mix of emotions. We’re excited for what the year will hold, but the newness of it all can also feel overwhelming and even scary.  

As we walk through these things as a family, God brought me to a portion of Scripture that I want to share with you. It’s actually a prayer Paul wrote in his letter to the church at Colossae. 

I’ve adapted it a little, but for the most part the prayer below comes from Colossians 1:9-12. Whether you are beginning or enduring, this prayer can equip you for what’s ahead.

Dear Heavenly Father, fill me with the knowledge of Your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, so that I may walk worthy of the Lord and fully pleasing to You. Help me bear fruit in every good work and grow in the knowledge of God. Strengthen me according to Your glorious might, so that I may have great endurance and patience, joyfully giving thanks to the Father. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
