Where My Heart Is
Not a lot of time to write this week, friends, but I wanted to drop you a note of encouragement.
I’ve been reading through the book of Proverbs, and highly recommend it! The book holds 31 chapters. So if you read one a day, you’ll finish in about a month’s time. There are so many nuggets to chew on in this book, so I thought I’d share an excerpt that I’m still digesting.
“My son, if you receive my words
and treasure up my commandments with you,
making your ear attentive to wisdom
and inclining your heart to understanding;
yes, if you call out for insight
and raise your voice for understanding,
if you seek it like silver
and search for it as for hidden treasures,
then you will understand the fear of the Lord
and find the knowledge of God.
“Then you will understand righteousness and justice
and equity, every good path;
for wisdom will come into your heart,
and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul;
discretion will watch over you,
understanding will guard you,” Proverbs 2:1-5, 9-11 (ESV)
This passage gives me a formula that leads to decisions that will watch and guard me and point me towards the full life in Christ I long for. I pray I can position my heart in a way that searches for wisdom and reaches for understanding.
Lord, this week, may we bend our ears to Your voice. May we lean into the wisdom that comes from knowing You. May our heart cries be for insight and understanding for Your ways and Your will. Let us store up Your commands and enjoy the fragrance on Your presence. Amen!

This is one of my FAVORITE books of the Bible. I have written a study on portions of Proverbs entitled All Things Wise and Wonderful: Applying God’s Wisdom to Everyday Life. We sell it on the Proverbs 31 website as an e-book. But I would be honored to give a free copy (pdf) of it to your friends who leave a comment, Katy. You are such a blessing and a great teacher of the Word.
Blessings,
Wendy
