Wednesday Work Out: Be the Best!

| |

“… continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling.” Philippians 2:12

You may have heard of Cane’s, a fast food joint that specializes in chicken fingers. In fact, they sell nothing but chicken fingers. The first time we tried it I told Luke,

If that’s what they’re know by, they better be the best at it.

If you’ve been to a Cane’s restaurant you know, the chicken fingers are good, but the sauce hooks you. It’s a recipe unique to Cane’s and just enough to turn a driver’s wheel away from every other nugget.

By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:35 (NIV)

Jesus branded us with love. He chose love to be the distinguishing difference between His followers and the rest of the world.

Many serve their idea love. But, as Christians, we have a special sauce that sets us apart.

But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.” Luke 6:27-28 (NIV)

We don’t love the way everyone else loves. We love the way Jesus loves.

We love when someone hurts us. We love when someone mistreats us. We bear with one another’s faults. We choose patience and offer mercy. ALL. THE. TIME.

If we ditch what makes us special, our love loses its flavor.

1 Corinthians 13:4-6 lists characteristics of God’s love. Look it up, today. Write it somewhere and think about it through the day. Let God’s Spirit prick your heart when your actions or reactions don’t line up with His love.

No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.” 1 John 4:12 (NIV)

If that’s what we’re know by, let’s be the best at it.
