Today, I want to take these verses one step further.

Because as long as these verses stay tucked into a full inbox we likely won’t experience change. The chains of fear won’t fall. The bars of anxiety will continue to bind us. But, we desire so much more than that, don’t we? And listen to what the Bible says about God and His Word,

The rain and snow come down from the heavens
and stay on the ground to water the earth.
They cause the grain to grow,
    producing seed for the farmer
    and bread for the hungry.
It is the same with my word.
I send it out, and it always produces fruit.
It will accomplish all I want it to,
and it will prosper everywhere I send it.” Isaiah 55:10-11 (NLT)

When you download these verses, you receive a tool. But a tool is only valuable when it’s used. So what do you say we learn how to use it.

Here are 3 ways I’ve used 15 Promises to Fight Fear and Anxiety for more than a decade.

  1. See it. Put the verses everywhere. You can print them and hang them on your refrigerator or bathroom mirror. Or, you can write them out on sticky notes or pieces of paper you tape around the house or in your car. You can write them at the top of each week on your day planner, or even save them as a picture on your smart phone and make them your screensaver. Bottom line: Keep them in front of your eyes.
  2. Say it. Say the verses out loud. At the first hint of anxiety in your soul, or the first brush with panic and fear, speak out loud the truths you’ve been seeing everywhere you turn. Whisper it if you’re uncomfortable, but speak it out loud, because when you say it, you’re not only reciting truth, you’re hearing it. You are telling yourself the truth of the matter and forcing your flesh to oblige.
  3. Pray it. Pray the verses over yourself and the people you love. Be honest about the condition of your heart and ask God to give you the boldness, confidence and freedom you find in His Word. When you listen to a friend or your child and you encounter hearts of fear and anxiety in them, pray these Scriptures out loud for them to hear, rejecting the enemy and the oppression he seeks to strangle us with and inviting the truth of God’s Word to do exactly what it says it will do.

As you use see, say and pray these Scriptures they will become a part of who you are. God will weave His Word into your heart in a way that defines you and sets you free. Will you ever face fear and anxiety again? If you’re like me, then yes, you will. But you’ll know where to turn, running back to the familiar and powerful words of the God who saves us and secures us.

I’m praying for you today, friend. And don’t forget to share these with someone else who may need them.

But God is present on sunny days and rainy days, when it’s good news and when it’s bad news. He will give me the strength for each step and the direction each step should go. And the first one is straight to Him.

  6. Hi Katy,
This is the first blog I’ve read. It was very good! I must confess in not a fan of football, but am married for 56 years to a big fan and raised 5 children, 2 boys, 3 girls. Football every time it’s on here we would sit in front of the set watching. I learned to basically ignore it, jumping a foot off my seat when boys would yell and girls scream with excitement! To this day girls are still the biggest fans!????
Anyway, I loved what you had to say. And, I would very much love to receive them.
    Thank you,
    Patricia
