5 Verses to Pray for Your Kids in 2017

I just noticed I haven’t updated the verses to pray for our kids for this new year! And since we’re only 2 months into the year … let’s just call it better late than never, shall we?

This year, I want to do something a little different. Instead of 7 verses, I’m praying 5.

You can use these in so many different ways. Pray one verse each week night every week of the year. Or, pray one verse for an entire week. You’ll have one verse for each week of the month. Or pray one verse for an entire month, and you’ll have enough verses to pray each one twice before the year ends.

However you choose to use these, I pray you find that as you pray God’s Word over your child you trust Him more with your child’s life and future, all the while weaving God’s Word into their precious hearts as they hear His Words leave your lips and they store them in their souls.

So here we go!

“Lord Jesus I pray that {insert name} will be rooted and established in love. That You would give him the power to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ. That he would know this love that surpasses knowledge and be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” (Ephesians 3:17b-19)

“My God, I pray for {insert name}, that she would love you Lord with all her heart and with all her mind and with all her soul and with all her strength.” (Mark 12:30)

“Lord I pray {insert name} would remain in You, and You in Him, so that he will bear much fruit. I pray he will know that apart from You he can do nothing, but with you all things are possible.” (John 15:5, Matthew 19:26)

“Lord God may {insert name} know the grace, mercy and peace that is his from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. And may this gift remind him, you have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and self-control.” (2 Timothy 1:2, 7)

“Dear God, may {insert name} commit everything she does to You. May she trust in you, Lord, and as she does, I pray You will help her, make her righteousness radiate and the justice of her cause shine like the noonday sun.” (Psalm 37:5-6)

In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen.

  2. Thank you Katy for the great idea about praying these versus over our kids! Even though my adult daughters are grown with kids of their own, I will still be praying the verses over them this year, as the truth in the verses is timeless and for every age and generation, as God’s Word always is! God’s blessings to you Katy!
